We All Do Good Things: Herne Bay
The Kind Towns Programme

This ambitious project using the arts to tell good news stories across the whole of Herne Bay. Our aims are to be a catalyst for community engagement, neighbourliness and volunteering. It should also be a lot of fun! If you'd like to get involved please get in touch with Sarah, our project manager.

We All Do Good Things: Primary Schools
The Kind Schools Programme
We are surrounded by bad news every day. The worst in people is always highlighted. But what happens when we celebrate, share and encourage the good things that people do?
Our acclaimed schools programme found out. From the poet laureate and South African musicians, to cartoonists and oral historians, schools told stories of kindness through the arts and began to take action themselves.
I believe, through this project, that we have given our children one of the greatest gifts of all - they are now so aware of kindness and the impact it can have on others that they have become more caring, sensitive and empathetic citizens; and I know they will take this with them through the rest of their lives. As the ripples of their kindness spread out, who knows what effect that will have on our local community and the world beyond. It has been a privilege to be part of such an innovative and vital project.

We have now produced a free Kindness pack for Primary Schools across Kent. This is an opportunity for schools to develop their community cohesion, citizenship, SEAL (social and emotional aspects of learning) and interdisciplinary work in a creative and rewarding way. This is our annual tradition of bonhomie in January. This year it was Monday 25th January 2010.
