Resolutions is a research and practical project that explores social and environmental responsibility within arts organisations.

As well as looking into these issues broadly across the arts sector, the project has also developed a fun and highly participatory process which enables the people in arts organisations to engage together to take action on social and environmental issues. It is based on the idea that small things can make a difference, especially when they tap into enthusiasm within an organisation. The approach is “bottom up”, in that ideas come from the staff team as a whole, rather than being imposed externally. The work primarily focuses on five areas: environment, community, suppliers and sourcing, audience and participants, and a happy workplace.

We are currently trialling a Resolutions workshop within a number of arts organisation, so far with positive results. We aim to develop this work further, to pass on our learning across the sector and to produce resources that will inform policies and practice.
